About The Cork Review

The Cork Review publishes wine reviews, scored on 100 points. There are two of us, Harris and Kenneth. We buy most of what we review, and we publish the technical detail behind every score so you can argue with our conclusions rather than take them on trust.

What we cover

The two of us cover different halves of the map, and every review says which of us tasted it.

Harris covers German and Austrian Prädikatswein and Niagara Icewine, having walked the sites in Rheinhessen, the Rheingau, the Mosel, the Nahe, and Illmitz. Sweet wine is where that coverage is deepest.

Kenneth covers a much wider range and accounts for most of the notes on the site. The depth is in Napa and the rest of California, Tuscany and Piedmont, Bordeaux, and the Douro, with real coverage of Burgundy, the Rhône, Champagne, Spain, Germany, and Argentina alongside them.

How we score

Briefly: 100 points, with every band and what it means published in full rather than implied. The full explanation, including how we handle calibration between two tasters, is on how we score.

Corrections

We will get things wrong, particularly on technical detail like vineyard boundaries, classifications, and AP numbers. Tell us on the contact page. Corrections are noted on the review itself rather than quietly edited in, so the record shows what changed.
