For the trade
Business licence
Put our scores on your own website, packaging and sales material, for as long as your subscription runs.
Our reviews are free to read and free to quote in an editorial context. What is not free is using a score commercially: on the page where you sell the wine, on the shelf where it stands, or on the bottle itself. That is what this licence is for.
It is one annual subscription covering your whole company. There are no seat counts to manage and no per-wine fees. While it is active you may publish any score we have given any of your wines, in any of the places listed below.

What we ask in return
The licence widens where a score may appear. It does not change how a score must be handled, and these conditions are the same ones that apply to anyone quoting us.
- Attribute every use to The Cork Review
- State the vintage. A score belongs to a vintage and means nothing detached from one
- Quote the score exactly, and never alter or round it
- Keep any quoted extract short, and never edit it in a way that changes its meaning
- Link to the review itself wherever the format allows a link
What it does not cover
- Wines and vintages we have not reviewed. The licence covers the scores that exist, and we do not score to order
- Any use implying that we endorse you, your company, or a purchase
- Republishing notes in bulk, or copying any substantial part of the database
- Passing the licence to another company, including an importer or distributor who is not on your own subscription
The full terms are on this page, under the licence itself. They are short, and worth reading before you subscribe rather than after.
A licence does not buy a score
This needs saying directly, because a wine publication that takes money from the trade at all has to be precise about what the money is for. A subscription buys the right to republish a score we have already published. It buys nothing else.
We do not accept payment for a review, we do not charge to be considered, and there is no submission route onto this site. Subscribing does not get your wines tasted, does not move a score, and does not affect what we choose to review or when. If we score one of your wines badly while you hold a licence, the licence covers that score exactly as it covers a good one, and the review stays up. Our method is set out on how we score.
What you are licensing
6 published reviews, each one a score against the 100-point scale with the tasting date and the taster named. Coverage and its limits are described on about, and the two people doing the scoring are on the tasters. If we have not reviewed your wines yet, a licence is premature. Say hello on the contact page instead.
Read the full licence terms
These terms cover the business licence sold on this page. They sit on top of the general terms, which continue to apply to everything not dealt with here. As with those, they are written plainly rather than defensively, and they have not been reviewed by a lawyer. If your company needs them checked before you subscribe, check them.
What the licence grants
While your subscription is active, you may reproduce scores we have published for your own wines, together with a short extract of the tasting note, in:
- Your own website, including product pages, landing pages and your online shop
- Shelf talkers, score stickers and other point of sale material
- Print and digital advertising
- Packaging, back labels and neck tags
- Trade presentations, sell sheets and technical sheets
- Your own email and social media
The licence is held by your company and covers everyone working for it. There is no seat count, no per-wine fee, and no separate permission to request each time.
Conditions on every use
- Attribute every use to The Cork Review
- State the vintage. A score belongs to a vintage and means nothing detached from one
- Quote the score exactly, and never alter or round it
- Keep any quoted extract short, and never edit it in a way that changes its meaning
- Link to the review itself wherever the format allows a link
Attribution means the words "The Cork Review" appearing with the score, legibly, in the same place the score appears. On a shelf talker that is the name beside the number. On a web page it is the name beside the number and a link to the review.
What the licence does not grant
- Wines and vintages we have not reviewed. The licence covers the scores that exist, and we do not score to order
- Any use implying that we endorse you, your company, or a purchase
- Republishing notes in bulk, or copying any substantial part of the database
- Passing the licence to another company, including an importer or distributor who is not on your own subscription
It also does not grant any right to our logo or marks beyond the attribution described above, and it does not permit any layout that presents our score as a rating of your company rather than of a specific wine in a specific vintage.
Scores can change, and you must follow them
We may re-taste a wine and publish a revised score, and we correct errors rather than quietly editing them. If a score you are using changes, you have thirty days from the date the change is published to update or remove it. The review page is the record. Where your material disagrees with the review page, the review page is right.
We will not revise a score because a subscriber asks us to, and asking is not grounds for a refund.
Term, renewal and cancellation
The licence runs for one year from the day you subscribe and renews automatically at $199 per year unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal linked at the foot of this page.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your licence stays live until the end of the period you have already paid for, so nothing needs to come down the moment you cancel.
When the licence ends
You have thirty days from the end of your subscription to remove our scores from anything still in your control: your website, your online shop, your email templates, and your social profiles.
Printed material already in the trade is the exception. Shelf talkers, back labels, packaging and advertising produced and distributed while the licence was active may run out their natural life, and you do not have to recall them. You may not print more.
Ending it from our side
We may end a licence, with a refund of the unused part, if our scores are being used in a way these terms prohibit and it is not put right within thirty days of us asking. In practice we will ask first, and the thing we are most likely to be asking about is a missing vintage or a missing attribution.
No endorsement
A licence is permission to quote a judgement about a wine. It is not a partnership, not a recommendation of your company, and not a statement that we have any relationship with you beyond having tasted your wine and been paid to let you repeat what we said about it. Neither taster holds a financial interest in any wine producer, importer, distributor or retailer, and a licence does not create one.
Questions
Ask on the contact page before subscribing rather than after. If your wines are not yet reviewed, say so and we will tell you honestly whether they are likely to be.
