Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2022
Piedmont Red
Barolo, ready when you are
The perfumed nose grabbed me first, followed by beautiful cherry fruit and a level of elegance that made this incredibly easy to enjoy. Floral, fresh and refined, with a nice level of acidity that kept everything balanced and gave the wine plenty of lift while still keeping the fruit front and center. What really surprised me was how well it was drinking this young. Bricco delle Viole is one of the highest vineyards in Barolo, and that elevation seems to have worked in its favor in the warm 2022 vintage plenty of ripe fruit, but still fresh, elegant and wonderfully composed. For anyone who loves Nebbiolo but doesn’t always want to wait a decade for it to become friendly, this is a very convincing argument to start drinking now!
I had the pleasure of tasting this at the Zachys Fall Grand Tasting in Port Chester, New York, on October 24, 2026.
